You must have faith. You must believe that there are angels, and that God created man, even if you have no proof -- that is the true test of faith.

I was similarly disappointed in Francis Collin's "The Language of God: A Scientist Presents Evidence for Belief."

Collins repeatedly stresses his faith in God, but I didn't walk away from that book with any understanding of how scientific rationalism and Christianity are compatible. There was basically no attempt to present scientific evidence for truth in the Bible stories, nor could there be.

I suspect Kenneth Miller's book suffers from the same core problem. It is one thing to hold a belief in some sort of God or Creator...but it is an entirely different thing to say "I believe in the Bible" or "I am a Christian."

Isn't it curious that religionists who regularly try to use science to prove the existence of a supreme being or a "higher power" never notice that the reverse never happens? (Except in the very few cases of some scientists who foolishly co-mingle their occupations and their childhood indoctrinations.)

Religion is organized superstition and cannot ever be reconciled with fact-based pursuits.
